TINA CALZONETTI Like many who recall from their earliest memories having a desire to perform, Tina's gift surfaced almost immediately when, at the age of 3, she was easily learning the words and melodies to popular songs on the radio. People took notice of her clear evenly-pitched voice. Her parents saw her love for music and rhythm and quickly enrolled her in dance lessons to help her understand the importance of entertainment. At this early age, Tina was frequently singing and dancing at all family functions along with her cousin. While in kindergarten, she was inspired by her teacher Carol Martin who would sing daily with grace and poise. This amazed Tina, and lit the spark that now is the light of her world. Throughout her early years of education, she was involved in talent shows and any kind of event or contest in which she could use her vocal talents. High school is where Tina gained much of her experience performing in front of a large audience. She became part of the choir, working as a team and learning to harmonize with others as well as delivering many solos over the four years. She also joined what would be her first of many bands with whom she has performed in the Niagara region. With the strong guidance of two amazing professors, Tina knew what she wanted to do with her life after graduating. Tina has since graduated from business sales and marketing, and has learned that, while sitting behind a desk has its benefits, it is not what she envisions for herself. Before graduating, Tina was entered by the student administrative council (SAC) in the Canadian College and University Idol competition. This involved competitors from schools in every province. It surprised no one in the Niagara region that Tina won 1st place overall with her high-energy performances. Beginning in September 2009, Tina will be attending a three-year musical theatre program to help further her career. Tina is currently a member of Pink Floyd Niagara, Niagara's Entertainer of the Year '08. She has been with them for the past two years, and has learned alot about the music industry. Working in this environment has given Tina the courage to bring to the surface her own lyrics and melodies. Over the past year she has been working vigorously at an album of her own, and has many plans in the future to continue singing her heart out! |
